Mission statement
Our Mission:
The mission of the GammaGents Mentoring Program is to provide a positive influence on the academic, social, and emotional growth of young males. It is to encourage self-respect, self-esteem, and respect for others, through mentoring and positive male interactions.
Goal
Our Objective:
Our goal is to reach one to teach one. We accomplish this by establishing an honest and trusting relationship with our mentees. Once we establish the relationship, we can teach valuable life skills such as etiquette, dressing for success, how to build relationships, and how to identify your triggers.
why
​Our Purpose:
​
Social and academic issues plaguing our community are perhaps the greatest challenges faced by African American young males today. Black male achievement begins to decline as early as the fourth grade. The graduation rate is nearly half that of their white counterparts. Black men are more than twice as likely to be unemployed as compared to white males, and make up about 40% of the prison population. More African American men are in prison, jail, on parole, or probation, than were enslaved in 1850, before the civil war.

For the men of Gamma Epsilon Theta Inc., serving as role models and building better communities stands at the core of who we are, and what we believe. We recognize that being a positive influence, or mentor in a young man’s life can help create a new narrative.

The National Mentoring Partnership reports that young males with mentors are 55% more likely to enroll in college, 78% more likely to volunteer regularly, and 130% more likely to go on to hold positions of leadership.
It acknowledges that young males who are mentored are more likely to enter successful careers, contribute to their communities, and become role models for others.

Our Methods:

Our program utilizes one-on-one mentoring, role playing, learning circles, cultural outings, and educational activities with selected mentors, professionals, and community leaders, to address academic and behavioral challenges.
